Artist Lecture and Opening Reception

A short film (14 minutes) by 1504 about Tony’s work will be shown before his lecture.
Film and lecture begin at 5:45 pm in The Library Theatre, with the reception to follow.
Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
Multi-disciplinary artist Tony M. Bingham lives and works in Birmingham, AL. Through his found and original audio work, large-scale photography and sculpture, Bingham references various sites which offer opportunities to consider African-American lifeways and ways of memorializing. Bingham received a BA in Communications from Antioch College, an MA in Film and Community Media from Goddard College and an MFA from Georgia State University. In 2024, he was awarded the Southern Prize and Alabama Fellowship for Visual Arts from South Arts. Bingham taught humanities and studio art at Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama from 2006-2024.
